Connect to a DevKit on the BlackBox Hub

Overview

Because you will usually add a DevKit using the Target Manager application, BlackBox Hub always synchronizes with it. As long as you add the DevKit’s IP address in the Target Manager, it will show up in BlackBox Hub.

There is also functionality in BlackBox Hub, called Devkit Manager, that allows you to register DevKits in the same way as you do in Target Manager.

Instructions

Add a DevKit for a PS4 or PS5 console

These instructions are for both PS5 and PS4. The consoles share the same flow, the only difference is that you need to select PS5 or PS4 to specify the DevKit you want to add.

  1. Go to the Devkit Manager page.

  2. Click either the PS5 or PS4 tab.
    The PS5 or PS4 Devkit Manager panel displays.

  3. Click the Add Card icon ().

  4. Enter the IP address for your new DevKit.

  5. Click the Add button.

  6. When the details of the new DevKit display in the PS5/PS4 Devkit Manager panel:

    1. If you see that the DevKit is not connected yet, click More options (…).

    2. Click the Connect option from the drop-down menu.

  7. Click Yes to disconnect the other user.

Subscribe to a build channel, deploy, play, and redeploy a PS4/PS5 console

These instructions are for both PS5 and PS4 consoles. The consoles share the same flow, the only difference is that you need to select PS5 or PS4 to specify the DevKit you want to add.

Subscribe to a build channel

  1. Click the add icon () to subscribe to a build channel.

  2. Choose the build channel that you want to subscribe to. In this case, you need platforms PS5 and PS4.

  3. Click Save Changes.
    Your newly subscribed build channel(s) will display on the BlackBox Overview page.

Download the build for that channel

  1. Click the Download button to download the build for that channel.

  2. Select the default directory or create the new directory you want to save the files to.

  3. Click Install.

  4. The build will start downloading.

Deploy your game to the DevKit

When the download has finished, and if you have already added the DevKit, the game status button will change to Deploy.

  1. Click the Deploy button to deploy the game to the DevKit.

  2. If you see the message Default Devkit not Connected:

    • Click the Select/Connect Devkit button.

    • Go to the steps in Add a DevKit for a PS4 or PS5 Console at the beginning of this document.

  3. To connect a DevKit if you have already installed it, click the Connect button in the Select and Connect PS4/PS5 Device panel.

  4. If you see the panel saying Force Disconnect, you can disconnect the other user by clicking on Yes.

A message panel confirms that your DevKit is connected.

 

Play your game in the DevKit

After you have installed your DevKit is connected, you can play your game in the DevKit.

Simply click the Play button for the game you want to play.

The game will run in the DevKit, showing the running process in the card.

Redeploy your game

You can redeploy the game if there is a problem with the Transfer Manager or BlackBox Hub apps, such as the game version remaining the same as before you deployed. To do this:

  1. Click More options (…) beside the Play button.

  2. Select the Redeploy option.

Kill the process

You can also kill the process to stop playing by clicking the Kill Process button on the card.

Add a DevKit for an Xbox console

You will usually add a DevKit using the Xbox Console Manager application, therefore BlackBox Hub always synchronizes with it. As long as you add those DevKit’s IP addresses in the Console Manager, you will see the DevKit in the BlackBox Hub.

There is also functionality in BlackBox Hub, called the Devkit Manager, that can register DevKits in the same way as the Xbox Console Manager

  1. First, go to the Devkit Manager page.

  2. Click the XBox Manager tab.

  3. Click the add icon ().

  4. Enter the IP Address for the DevKit and the Device Name (optional).

  5. Click the Add button.

  6. The status details for the DevKit display.

  7. Set the new DevKit as the default:

    • Click More options (…).

    • Select Set Default Device.

Subscribe to a build channel, deploy, play, and redeploy an Xbox console

The general instructions are pretty similar to PS4/PS5 consoles so you can follow those steps. The only difference is in the deployment and play process.

Once you have finished downloading the build, the button for that build will change to Deploy & Play.

Click the button and the game will be deployed to the DevKit.

When the game has been deployed, it will automatically play.

You can kill the process by clicking the Stop button on the card.
